Dance and Drama

Miss Lauren Nonino teaches Dance and Drama class at Bromwell to first through fifth graders.Students start off each year mastering different locomotor movements such as skipping, galloping, and running leaps; and non-locomotor movements such as jump full turns, pirouettes, and pivot turns. They are given ample opportunity to explore their own creative movement vocabulary.

They learn choreographic elements including level, size, speed, formation, and shapes. Students collaborate to choreograph their own original pieces based on the skills taught.

Examples of past work include a choreographic projects based on the dance company Stomp, the Alvin Ailey Dance Company, and even Michael Jackson’s dance moves and choreography!

Students also learn drama and theater skills such as characterization, voice, movement, and improvisation through theater games.
