Our Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) Intensive for 2012-2013 has been constructed to support and connect the Standards, Literacy and Teacher Effectiveness initiatives. Teachers will begin implementing the new standards through the use of interdisciplinary units and instructional tasks, which will better prepare our students to meet this challenge through an instructional focus. This year we have chosen, “High Impact Instructional Moves.” This focus entails the following:
Using Questioning Effectively: Teachers will use effective questioning strategies and ask students to explain their thinking and engage them in higher-level, critical thinking that leads to the mastery of learning objectives.
Checking for Understanding in Varied Ways throughout the Lesson: Teachers will use varied, frequent checks for understanding to monitor all students’ progress toward objectives throughout the lesson.
Using Technology and Digital Resources to Enhance Student Learning: Teachers will effectively use technology to engage students’ access to information and use digital tools to enable students to become active participants in managing their own learning.
