4th Grade Monthly ProjectsEvery month, students will be required to pursue reading or research in order to create a project at home and then present it to the class. Project assignments will be introduced at the beginning of the month and will generally be due during the last week of the month.
Actually, as you can see below, the monthly projects aren't really quite monthly after all. November and December (with the holidays and the Bromwell house tour) are two of our very busiest months, so we will just have one project during that time. The same is true for March and April, which include CSAPs and Spring Break. There'll be just one project assignment then, too -- the Science Fair project. And only then if we decide to have a Science Fair (we didn't last year). After Spring Break? Nothing, zip, nada. Well, no big homework projects, anyway. There's just too muhc going on. There's the Keystone trip, the Shakespeare Festival, the Bromwell auction, the Talent Show, Field Day, and many other special events. We get tired just thinking about it!
Most of the projects are related to a literary genre. Each project has definite and specific guidelines, but also offers a lot of room for personal creativity and (we hope) sheer fun.
Here are the projects we'll be doing this year: September - MYTHOLOGICAL MEDALLIONS October - MYSTERY FILES November/December - CLASSICS ILLUSTRATED January - BIOGRAPHY February - FANTASY ISLAND March/April - Science Fair (possibly - to be decided!) (There will otherwise be no project assigned during April or May) Back to A-6: Mr. Replogle's Fourth Grade Classroom Back to A-5: Ms. Lewis' Fourth Grade Classroom |
