School Improvement Plan![]() Teaching & Learning Goal 1: Bromwell students will increase their achievement in writing. Bromwell students will increase the number of students proficient or advanced on the writing CSAP from 77% in 2007 to 87% in 2010. Writing: Objective 1 100% of students, attending school 85% of the time, in grades 1-5 will be proficient or above in spelling their grade level spelling words (according to Houghton Mifflin Spelling & Vocabulary) by May 2008. Use of Skills Components Book study on effective spelling instruction Unit assessments on grade-level basic words Writing: Objective 2 In May 2008, 90% of Grade 1-2 students, attending school 85% of the time, will score a 3 or higher on the organization element in narrative as measured by NCEE Standards rubrics. 90% of Kindergartners will score a 2 or higher on the same organizational element. 90% of Grades 3-4-5 students, attending school 85% of the time, will demonstrate proficiency on the May 2008 Benchmark Writing Assessment in the area of organization. Writing Objective 2 Strategies Utilization of various writing organization instructional options: 4 Square, Read-Write Connection, etc., to provide elements of effective practice in writing organization. Identify curriculum in literacy planning guides where organization is an instructional focus Use assessment data to identify grouping needs Teaching & Learning Goal 2: 95% of Bromwell's students attending school 85% of the time will be proficient or advanced on end-of-year math assessments. Kindergarten: includes those who were 5 years old by the 1st day of school K - 1 grade: Everyday Math Grades 2-5: Everyday Math or Benchmark Math Objectives and Strategies Monitor pacing through Everyday Math curriculum Seek proficiency on constructed response tasks - can be orally or written
