BIOGRAPHY
This project, I reckon, isn't so hard to figure out! You will choose an important person, research that person’s life, and then, you guessed it -- write a biography. You can choose any important person who is no longer living. You may want to choose a familiar person, someone you have read about before.
Your biography must have a cover, an introduction, three to five sections or “chapters,” a conclusion, a bibliography, and at least two illustrations.
The cover should show the title of your biography, your name, and can include an illustration. The introduction should engage a reader’s interest and provide important background information. The middle sections should follow the life story of the subject from youth to old age. If possible, you should include direct quotations from the subject of your biography. The conclusion should summarize the person’s experiences and help readers think about his or her achievements. The bibliography should list at least two books and two internet sites that helped you prepare your biography. The illustrations should be in color, done in any medium (pencil, marker, paint, photos, computer art), and they should represent important events in the subject’s life.
Your biography should be 3 - 5 pages long, not including separate pages for the cover, the illustrations and the bibliography. It should be typed in 14-point Times or Times New Roman font. Your section or chapter titles can be bigger and use other fonts as you choose.
I have many examples of biographies written by my previous students that I will post at a later date. They offer good examples of the kind of work I would like you to do on this project.
As always, you can use the grading rubric to make sure you are doing everything right! |
