Bromwell Eagles Always Care![]()
The BEAC program is our school's character education program, developed cooperatively by parents and teachers. This program is more fully explained on the page Our Character Education Program.
On this page you'll find pieces from last year's BEAC program committee. New pieces will follow as the new school year gets under way!
The BEAC Team's New Year's NoteFollowing the tragedy at Columbine High School, parents and teachers searched for ways to make our schools safe. At Bromwell three areas were identified 1) building safety, 2) traffic safety, and 3) How we treat each other. Toward the goal of enhancing caring behavior, the BEAC team was formed. To help understand the importance of the BEAC projects, we are reprinting an article from Communities and Schools in Action. This is a publication of the Safe Communities - Safe Schools Initiative. Vol.1 Issue 5
Emerging Lessons of the Colorado Statewide ForumsThe Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence (CSPV), the Colorado Attorney General's Office, and The Colorado Trust wish to announce the results of the statewide forums to promote community awareness about Safe Communities - Safe Schools. The forums began in April and involved a stop at each of the 63 counties in the state of Colorado during the Spring and Fall of 2000. Attorney General Ken Salazar and CSPV director Del Elliot met with students and school districts about what schools and communities can do to provide safe and nurturing school climates. They also talked to communities about the resources available through CSPV. The following are some emerging lessons from the tour:

BROMWELL HOLIDAY GIFT DRIVEZinger's December character word is SHARING and that's just what we want to do...Bromwell has adopted Colfax Elementary School for the holidays. Colfax is located in west Denver and is primarily attended by students from low-income or otherwise disadvantaged families, including many students from homeless families. Bromwell would like to share the holiday spirit by collecting one new toy or book for each child at Colfax. We are hoping that each Bromwell students will participate in the sharing by purchasing one unisex gift that will not be easily broken during the collection and distribution process. In order for each Colfax student to receive a gift of similar value, please limit your purchase to approximately $5.00 The gift should be for the same grade range student (primary or intermediate) as your Bromwell student(s). Since Colfax has more students (370) than Bromwell (309), families wishing to donate additional gifts would be greatly appreciated. Another metro area school is partnering on a more limited scale and will be able to help make up some of the difference as well. Please wrap the gift(s) and complete and attach the gift tag below to the outside of the package. Gifts should be dropped off in the appropriate grade box located in the main Bromwell lobby. Gifts must be received by 3:30, Wednesday, December 13th. Bromwell volunteers will be delivering the gifts on Thursday and Colfax Elementary will be giving out the gifts on Friday to all of their students.
If you should have any questions or would like to help in our Gift Drive, please call Leisa Everhart or Jan Price at Bromwell, 303.388.5969, or Cathy Roper at 303.399.4050. Thank you for sharing because...Bromwell Eagles Always Care!

Our school community has identified the opportunity to enhance caring behavior at Bromwell. Toward the goal of developing greater awareness and skills in caring behaviors, a team of teachers and parents has come together to implement a school wide project.
Extensive research, planning, and work has led to:
- Our Eagle mascot Zinger
- Our character word of the month
- School wide promotion of our character word
- Classroom promotion of our character word
- Ways to communicate BEAC team ideas and resources to parents/guardians
- Ongoing caring behavior education and evaluation of this process with the Bromwell staff
Please bring any questions and ideas to the BEAC Team members: Andrea Lewis, Julia Shepherd, Kathryn Leerssen, Adrienne Cox, Cathy Roper, Patty Schuster, Amie Mackenzie
ASK YOUR CHILDREN ABOUT IT and watch for more information from Zinger!
