Our Art Program

Art class: Browmell stduents love art!

Here's a message from Mrs. Lauren Shellberg, our full-time visual arts teacher:

I am so pleased to be back again at Bromwell for another great year of creating wonderful artwork! This year we will be involved in the study and practice of traditional media (drawing, painting, and clay), untraditional media (recycled object sculpture, mixed media, and fibers), and electronic media (photography and graphic arts).

Beginning this year I have begun implementing an online art gallery to highlight and promote examples of the outstanding work that is produced at Bromwell throughout the school year. I will be uploading images of our work as we go and you will be able to see your child's work that he or she is creating.

The website is: www.artsonia.com so please check it out!

Each year we have three big events that we manage from the art room. The first is the creation of a calendar. Each class does line drawings in black and white based around a theme and thus makes up the 12 months of the year.

The second is our Valentine's Day Card Show and Sale which is held at Show of Hands Gallery. Each class creates cards and the money that is made from the sale is donated to benefit a charity of our choice.

The final event is the gallery walk which involves 12 Cherry Creek Galleries. Each class is assigned to a different gallery where they will create a piece to be shown in that gallery on the night of the gallery walk. Following this the pieces will be sold in the Bromwell auction to benefit our school. None of this could be done without the help of the parent volunteers who make up the Arts Council. If you would like to help with any of these events or help out in the art room during the year, please contact me. Thanks!
