B-3: Ms. Pishney's First Grade Classroom

B-3 image: Kids at theri desks...having fun!?!

Greetings! It is with great joy and expectation that I look forward to our creation of a delightful experience this year at Bromwell.

Parents, I have a few things that are unique to my classroom. I have the children memorize poems, one a month. This has always been a favorite of both children and their parents who marvel at their student's ability to master classics like Casey at the Bat, The Owl and the Pussycat, and many others that will remain with the children through the years. Research has shown that this kind of mental exercise can actually increase anyone's IQ, regardless of age!

Last year I added a new and incredibly helpful adjunct to my reading program. My parents purchased reading workbooks geared specifically to their child's abilities. These workbooks were used at home and at school and affordedde parents a bird's eye view of the objectives and goals at their child's reading level. The results we witnessed were truly marvelous!

I adore my parents! You all are a vital part of the gains we will realize in our busy room. There are many ways that you may interact with our first grade world if you would like to join the festivities!

I look forward to a wonderful year with you and your darling child!

Mary Pishney
