During this period, our annual Bromwell Holiday House Tour became an important community event, as well as a good resource for school fundraising. The above brochures are from the tours for 1978, 1984, and 1999.

At the end of World War One, many communities planted
"Armistice Trees." The Peace Tree, as it came to be called
by the students, lived until 1994, and then was carved into
a statue of an eagle. In the photo above, the tree has been
trimmed for sculpting by woodcarver David Mitchell.


In the early 1990's, funds were raised to build a new addition to the south side of the school. This addition gave us our two Kindergarten rooms, B-7 and B-8. Here's the brochure for the dedication ceremony:

Bromwell's Learning Landscape Committee was founded by a Bromwell mom who was also a professor at DU. This committee worked to improve our playground, which became a successful model for playground improvements at other DPS schools. The Dollars a Day program began at our school in response to the district's continuing cuts in staffing allocations and funding for "the specials" (art, gym, music, and similar programs). As of this posting, the program is ongoing. Here is one of the brochures, and it features another frequent symbol used by our school during this time, four handprints in four squares:
