KALEIDOSCOPE CORNER
by Dana, 4th grade
Hi, my name is Dana. Today my top story is K.C. If you don't know what K.C. is, it stands for Kaleidoscope Corner. It's an after-school program that kids got to when their parents are ready to pick them up. The bad things about it are we are not allowed to bring Pokemon cards there even though they give us Pokemon snacks! Also, we aren't allowed to ride bikes outside, we're not allowed to make phone calls to our parents, and if we are in the Homework Club we have to do our homework. A lot of the teachers have bad senses of humor, and they give bad snacks that we can't eat and stuff like that. On the other hand, there are some good things. We sometimes have fun projects and there are some nice teachers like Tom and Nicole, and I have friends there to be with and play with. KALEIDOSCOPE CORNER

I go to Kaleidoscope Corner (K.C.) and Mr R suggested I do an article on K.C. to tell kids that don't go to it and don't even know about it. K.C. is actually pretty fun once you get used to it. But let's get to the real article and I will start to tell you what goes on from the beginning to the end. Well, first you walk in and you check in with one of the teachers. Then you put your backpack and stuff in either a white, green, or blue basket. And then if you want a snack you go and get lined up at the small table (if there is a line) and eat your snack. Sometimes they have oreo's or crackers and pretzels. Then you sit down on one of the tables (it's in the lunchroom) and eat snack. Then you go do something until we go outside or go to the gym. If you don't want to do something like that you can play a game or do Brain Quest. K.C. has lots of games like Monopoly, Life, Connect Four, Air Hockey, Monopoly Jr., and lots more great games. Then the people who were outside or in the gym come back and the people who are left (just to let you know that would probably be around 5:30) play a game called silent ball. That's where you pass around a ball and if you talk or you don't catch the ball you have to sit out until the next game. Then your parents either pick you up at 6:00 or earlier, and then you go home. And that's what K.C is all about!
