Andrew Hodges August 7, 2017 Dear Bromwell Parents, Welcome to another fantastic year at Bromwell! I am excited to be your new principal and look forward to getting to know you. For those new to Bromwell like me, I want you to know that your child is attending one of Colorado’s top schools. And to our returning families, thank you for your dedication to making Bromwell the best! You’ll be hearing a lot from me in the coming weeks, but I want to make sure we cover a few basics in this introductory letter. Enclosed is information about new staff and staff assignments, a refresher on our vision work, as well as a little bit more about my background. For the past six years I have been an assistant principal at several elementary and middle schools, and am honored to take on the principal role at Bromwell. I’m also a new dad! As my daughter grows up, I am even more thankful for the wonderful new perspective fatherhood brings to my job as a leader and listener. I am committed to ensuring that your child is engaged in innovative and joyful learning experiences. My belief is that Bromwell will shape its students into global citizens ready to embrace opportunities for continuous growth and leadership wherever they go. Upon being hired in the spring, parents and staff came together to create a new vision for our special school. We conducted surveys and held several working meetings. The final product is attached at the bottom of this letter. It serves as a guide to grow and support the entire Bromwell community. Please let me know what you think – I welcome questions and want to hear your ideas about how to bring this vision to life. It has been a busy summer organizing our teaching teams. First, I would like to welcome the following new professionals to our building: Jana Heiner ECE Paraprofessional Melissa Pettit 2nd Grade Long Term Sub, Literacy Todd Johnson 3rd Grade Literacy Teacher Carrie Maierholfer 4th Grade Math Teacher Britta Bushnell-Conway Music Teacher Susan Duncan Mild/Moderate Special Education Teacher Francesca Simpson School Psychologist In addition to our new staff, we also have some changes to existing assignments and responsibilities: Kristina Schultz will continue as our 3rd grade teacher and serve as our Math Team Specialist, Penelope Pickle will continue as our Gifted and Talented teacher and serve as a Senior Team Lead, and Sarah Duran is moving from 4th grade math teacher to 2nd grade math teacher. You will have a chance to meet our teachers at Back to School Night on Tuesday, August 22 from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. Kindergarten Back to School Night will be held Thursday, August 17 from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. I look forward to getting to know you and working to make Bromwell the best school for your child. Sincerely, Andrew Hodges Principal, Bromwell Elementary
