Bromwell Bulletin

Here are this week’s important updates, action items and upcoming dates.

ROOM PARENTS STILL NEEDED!

We’re still looking for Room Parents for Art, Ford, Percival, Duran, Stevenson, Martin, Huntley, Rumkus and Walker.

Room Parents help strengthen the connection between teachers, families and the PTA by:

  • Supporting communication with families in your class

  • Helping teachers organize class parties, celebrations and other needs throughout the year

  • Coordinating one grade-level Teacher Appreciation effort

  • Helping coordinate a Spring Auction basket

  • Pitching in with other classroom and PTA tasks as they come up

It’s a fun and low-lift way to get involved, get to know your classroom community and support our teachers.

We have 2 candidates for the 1 open parent position. Voting is now live! Please vote here: Collaborative School Committee (CSC) Election Ballot

TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION

For families whose students use DPS transportation:

School Bus: Bus route information should be available in the Parent Portal. Families can also use the MyRide K-12 app to monitor bus information in real time.

If your student rides a DPS school bus, please remind them to use their QR code bus passcard each time they board and exit the bus. Using the passcard helps families:

  • Track when their student gets on and off the bus

  • Receive alerts when the bus is approaching their stop

  • More quickly locate a student if there is ever a concern

Learn more and access MyRide K-12

Car Service: Families whose students receive transportation through car service should use the HopSkipDrive or EverDriven app for ride information and updates.

BESS Parent Screening — Due October 30

Bromwell uses the BESS (Behavioral and Emotional Screening System) to help understand how students are doing socially, emotionally and behaviorally at school.

All ECE–5 families are encouraged to complete the parent rating form by October 30. Teachers will also complete a rating for each student after they have known students for at least 30 days. Students in grades 3–5 will complete a short self-rating at school unless they have been opted out.

Complete the Parent Form → BESS Parent Form

You will need your student’s

DPS ID number and date of birth

Kindergarten families: Due to an issue with the online Kinder form, your child will bring home a paper form to complete and return to school.

Grades 3–5: If you intended to opt your student out of the self-report portion and are unsure whether you did so during registration, please contact Jordan McElligott.

Questions? Contact Jordan at jordan_mcelligott@dpsk12.net or 720-424-9361.

There will also be a BESS station at Back to School Night on September 3 for families who would like help completing the form.
