ALL IN! Being a newer bear (year 2!) here at Bromwell Elementary, I feel it’s important to get to know the community’s experiences, interests, and goals in the Visual Arts Program. Although a veteran teacher of 8 years, I have been loving the new challenge being of ALL IN at Bromwell Elementary.

I grew up in Detroit, Michigan in a family of four girls. By 5th grade I knew I wanted to be involved in Visual Arts for the rest of my life! I attended The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and achieved my BFA, then moved to Denver as an Outdoor Apparel Designer. For many years I designed with Izod Golf, Timberland/Smartwool, and contract-designed for other outdoor companies in and around Denver. I have a passion for color, design, and apparel! My husband Jay and I welcomed our son, Johan, in 2012, just as I decided to attend Metropolitan State University to attain my license to teach. My teaching career began in Cherry Creek Schools as we welcomed our daughter Annika in 2016, teaching at Highline Community Elementary for 7 years before moving to DPS and now calling Bromwell home!

I love spending time with my family and friends here in Denver, back in Michigan, and even traveling to Sweden where my Dad’s family lives. I enjoy creating art: illustration, fiber art, screenprinting, and helping everyone with all things color and design! I enjoy boating, hiking, and snowboarding. One thing I enjoy on the daily is watching my two kids grow, learn, and have fun!!

As always, the Art Room at Bromwell has an “Open Door” policy, so please feel free to join your Bear anytime they have Art as their Special. I appreciate and love the support! Kindly, Miss M.
