Social Emotional Learning – SEL at Bromwell

Hey everyone Mr. Tay here, this week we have been working on growth vs. fixed mindsets.  Since we are a few weeks into school we know that those feelings of not being able to do something start creeping in.  I want to make sure that friends understand that just because something doesn’t happen immediately does not mean it will never happen and to persevere when the challenges come.  I hope we can develop a mantra/affirmation when those thoughts come to mind.

As always please let me know if you have questions and please find some examples of growth vs fixed below.

10 Growth Mindset Statements

The health office could use your support!

If you have clothing for ECE – 5th grade ready to pass along, please donate them to the health office.  You can drop them off in the front office.  It is much easier to have back up options so a student can stay in class rather than calling an adult to bring something in.  Thank you!

2024-2025 BESS Screening

Bromwell students will complete universal mental health screening using the Behavior and Emotional Screening System (BESS). This is an online tool that takes approximately five minutes to complete and consists of 28 questions for the student to answer. Our teachers will complete the BESS for all students, and 3rd-5th grade students will complete self-reports. Your student data will be shared with you during parent conferences.

BESS screening will occur during the week of 9/30/24-10/4/24. If you, the parent/guardian, would like to confirm or revoke your opt-out decision, please do so by calling the front office.  You are also invited to complete a parent form by going to this link. Have your student’s ID number ready.

Please reach out to Christina Campbell, School Psychologist, with any questions regarding these screeners.

Please complete the You Benefit Application!

You Benefit! application helps families and your school. By applying, your child’s school can receive additional funding. In addition, your child’s school fees may be waived or reduced. These include athletic fees, ACT, SAT, course fees and activity and field trip fees tied to curriculum.

All families are still strongly encouraged to complete the You Benefit! Form as the information determines critical funding for Bromwell and DPS, regardless of qualification.
