Special Spotlight – PE!

The beginning of the year has been a fun one in the Bromwell Gym. Along with learning a variety of games, 3rd-5th focused on football! We worked specifically on overhand throw, flag pulling/dodging, and basic football rules. 1st and 2nd learned the steps to an underhand throw, rolling and had fun bowling. Kinder and ECE got to learn the routines/rituals of P.E., play some of Bromwell’s favorite games, and did a lot of dancing!

Social Emotional Learning – SEL at Bromwell

How’s it going everyone, Mr. Tay here.  This week we talked about more of the Circle of Control but then we did a hard pivot to remind our bears about Consent.  I told them that consent is asking permission before doing something that involves someone else (hug, high-five, and certain games) and reminded everyone that we all want to feel safe and comfortable while at school, meaning that we should respect everyone’s boundaries.  Next week we will finish on the Circle of Concern.

Please complete the You Benefit Application!

You Benefit! application helps families and your school. By applying, your child’s school can receive additional funding. In addition, your child’s school fees may be waived or reduced. These include athletic fees, ACT, SAT, course fees and activity and field trip fees tied to curriculum.

All families are still strongly encouraged to complete the You Benefit! Form as the information determines critical funding for Bromwell and DPS, regardless of qualification.

2024-2025 BESS Screening

Bromwell students will complete universal mental health screening using the Behavior and Emotional Screening System (BESS). This is an online tool that takes approximately five minutes to complete and consists of 28 questions for the student to answer. Our teachers will complete the BESS for all students, and 3rd-5th grade students will complete self-reports. Your student data will be shared with you during parent conferences.

BESS screening will occur during the week of 9/30/24-10/4/24. If you, the parent/guardian, would like to confirm or revoke your opt-out decision, please do so by calling the front office.  You are also invited to complete a parent form by going to this link. Have your student’s ID number ready.

Please reach out to Christina Campbell, School Psychologist, with any questions regarding these screeners.
