Good Afternoon Browmell Families,
It’s hard to believe we are near the end of the shortest month of the year however it has been one of the busiest around Bromwell. It’s been filled with field trips for many grade levels, along with mid-year testing for students, and planning for the following 24-25 SY.
Here at Bromwell, it is important for me to keep you updated with both current and future planning throughout the school year. Thank you to those who were able to attend our virtual annual Bromwell State of the Den on Thursday, February 22nd, and in case you missed here is the recording.
During the presentation we had a few questions come up regarding how many times our BESS screener is administered throughout the school year. The BESS is our Social Emotional screener for students and is administered three times a year. In grades K-2, it is completed by both teachers and parents. In grades 3-5, students self-report along with parents and teachers. Please help us reach our goal of 100% parent participation for when we complete the BESS survey again in the Spring. We will send out this information in our weekly newsletter.
Also, as the school shifts from a Tech/STEAM specials offering to full-time Music specials for students what does that mean for your Bear and STEAM? STEAM will now be incorporated into the classrooms, as well as throughout other specials when it fits with the instructional schedule.
Finally, did you know that Bromwell has been approved by the Denver Public Schools Bond Oversight committee for a new playground? Yes, it’s true, however, we don’t have much more information than that right now. As soon as we learn more about the project and timeline, I will send out updates.
I want to remind you that communication here at Bromwell is extremely important and so if you need something or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out directly to your child’s teachers or the front office for support. As always I am also available to meet with you to address any additional questions or concerns you may have.
I am also excited to share with you our new school store for Bromwell School Spirit Gear! Here is the link to start shopping today and use code SPIRIT227 to save 25% until February 27th. Don’t worry if you won’t have time to buy before the 27th, we will send you updated flyers with discount codes as they are available.
I hope this finds you all well and enjoying this beautiful Saturday! And I look forward to seeing you all at the upcoming Book Fair!
Sincerely,
Valecia von Weise, Principal
